What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is the future of conventional medicine–available now!

It seeks to identify and address the root causes of disease. Functional medicine views the body as one integrated system, not a collection of independent organs divided up by medical specialties. It treats the whole system, not just the symptoms.

How do I schedule my first appointment with Dr. Rand?

Does Dr. Rand accept insurance?

I do not participate with any insurance carriers including Medicare. I can give you a detailed bill with appropriate medical codes and procedures that you may submit to your insurance carrier for out of network benefits. Medicare will not accept my superbills.

Can Dr. Rand be my primary care physician?

No. Although Dr. Rand continues to be board-certified in Internal Medicine, she has chosen to devote her time fully to delivering functional medicine care. She does require that you continue your annual visits with your primary care physician.

Will my insurance pay for functional medicine testing?

Your insurance coverage will be variable and we can go over the tests and probable out of pocket expenses. We can help you find out your maximum out of pocket cost for tests. These tests are very helpful and well worth the investment if Dr. Rand feels you need them.
